Since 1919, Goodwill has believed in the transforming power of work for all individuals.. Over the past 100 years, our services have changed to respond to the needs of the times. We began by helping people with disabilities or disadvantages repair donated items. We helped connect our neighbors with basic services during the Great Depression and were proud to provide training and jobs for wounded soldiers coming back from World War II. We trained people on computers when technology became part of the American workforce and during recessions we have been instrumental in connecting people to jobs. although our services have changed, our belief in a chance, not charity has remained the same.
Today, Goodwill is a premier provider of social services community programs, vocational training, transitional employment and other services to enhance employment opportunities for individuals with disadvantages or disabilities. Our ability to evaluate, train, coach and support individuals with multiple barriers–providing them with real world, hands-on work experience they can build on, differentiates Goodwill from other workforce development providers.
By making a financial contribution, volunteering or simply donating your household items, you are helping individuals find dignity and hope through the power of work!
