Michelle Greene

“I am recognizing and embracing my ability to influence and have an impact.” These are the words of Michelle Greene, Vice President – Information Technology at Masco Corporation and member of Goodwill’s Board of Directors.

One of Michelle’s favorite “Mission Moments” is Robert’s story, which represents perseverance and illustrates the impact Goodwill has in our communities.

While reflecting on Robert’s story, Michelle said, “What do I want people to know about Goodwill? The organization has such a broad reach. So many careers, lives and circumstances have been and continue to be impacted by Goodwill. All people think about many times is dropping off donations, but people don’t realize that in the time it takes to drop off something – they’ll make an incredible impact on someone in partnership with Goodwill.”

A: People talk about leadership as a form of responsibility; what drives me is embracing that responsibility.  

Q: What is your favorite quote from an African American leader?   

 A: I actually have two by Maya Angelou, but I chose this one: “I’ve learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.” 

Michelle believes it is important to celebrate Black History Month year round. “Black History Month is an opportunity – an opportunity for us to reflect; an opportunity for us to re-engage; and an opportunity for us to focus. I hope we find ourselves doing this all the time and not just during a certain month of the year.” 


February marks Black History Month, honoring the triumphs and struggles of prominent African thumbnail_820x360-Black-History-MonthAmericans who have made significant contributions to America and the rest of the world. To celebrate Black History Month, Goodwill is celebrating local African American leaders who are essential to our success.
